1987-93 FORD MUSTANG
shift boot installation guide

1. If your visors are in decent shape, and the chrome poles they sit on aren't rusted or tarnished, you can use this method:
Step 1: Slide the cover over the visor, velcro side facing you while the visor is down. If you want to retain the mirrors you need to remove them, use an x-acto knife to trim out a hole in the visor covers and reinstall the mirrors.
Step 2: Close the Velcro.
Step 3: Repeat for the other side.

If your original visors are in really bad shape, and need to be replaced, or if you want to clean the chrome pole they rest on, then youŐll want to remove them. ThatŐs method 2.
Step 1: Remove the small rubber stopper on the end of the chrome pole. This is indicated by the red arrow in the photo.
Step 2: Slide the visor off in the direction of the green arrow. This can take some effort. DonŐt force it, and be careful to pull in a straight line so you donŐt bend the rod. I find it helps a whole bunch to gently twist the visor back and forth as you pull.
Step 3: Repeat for the other side.

2. Polish up the chrome attachment rods and install the covers. Spray some WD40 or similar lubricant on a paper towel. Wipe down the attachment rods with the towel to grease them up. This will make the next step easier.

3. Slide the cover over the visor, velcro side facing you while the visor is down. Close the Velcro. If you want to retain the mirrors you need to remove them, use an x-acto knife to trim out a hole in the visor covers and reinstall the mirrors.

4. Slide the visor back on, irregular end first, holding the flat end in your palm. Gently press the visor back on, being careful to push it on straight and gently twist as you push. Re-install the rubber stopper. Repeat for the other side.

Useful tip

You have installed a product made out of genuine leather. As you know, to maintain a leather product in good condition, you should take care of it. We suggest occasionally (every 4-6 week for example) applying some leather conditioner/UV protector to keep your leather from drying up in the sun and cracking.
