2012-16 PORSCHE CAYMAN 981
shift boot installation guide

Looking for a Porsche Cayman shift boot? We offer the best ones out there!

1. Remove the shift boot by pulling on the bottom frame - pull it towards the front and it will dislodge easily. Lift the boot up and through it, grab the shift knob. Yank it up to remove it from the shifter.

Remove the zip-tie attaching the shift knob to the boot and remove the boot from the frame by pulling out the staples.

2. Get your bearings - see how to align the new boot on the frame using the old boot as guide.

3. If you have access to a heavy-duty staple gun, staple the new boot to the frame. Failing that, we recommend using glue. Contact cement is ideal, make sure it's not an instant glue but one that allows to make adjustments before it fully cures. If you don't have experience with glues, a brush-on glue is simpler to work with than spray glue, in most cases.

Use a zip-tie to attach the shift knob to the new boot and reinstall everything back in the car.

Useful tip

You have installed a product made out of genuine leather. As you know, to maintain a leather product in good condition, you should take care of it. We suggest occasionally (every 4-6 week for example) applying some leather conditioner/UV protector to keep your leather from drying up in the sun and cracking.
