MIATA 06+ DOOR INSERT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. Removing the door panels; this is the screw in the bottle holder, remove it with a #3 Phillips screwdriver.

2. These are the hidden screws, one behind a panel in the door lever, pop it out from the back side and use a #2 Phillips to remove this screw and behind the upper cap of the door pull, use the #3 Phillips for this screw.

3. Then gently pry the door panel away from the metal door frame so that you can get a grip on it. I'm using a plastic clay modeling tool. Then just gently pop the plastic away from the door.

4. Above; This is the back side of the plastic door panel, the white upper section needs to be separated from the lower black part. These melted plastic studs need to be melted so that the two sections can be pulled apart. If you're careful this can be done without ruining the studs and the studs can be used to put it all back together again. Use a soldering gun.

5. Same here.

6. and here.

7. Test fitting the fabric panel, after this was checked the area to be sprayed with adhesive was thoroughly cleaned with the painters grease and wax remover. Then the upholstery adhesive was sprayed on the plastic panel and the back of the fabric. All portions of the door that were not to be sprayed were carefully masked off with blue painters tape and newspaper. Several light coats were used, do not soak the fabric or the adhesive might soak through to the front side. Allow to dry according to the instructions and then carefully lay the fabric in place and work it smooth. Note that once this is done, it's done.

8. Use the plastic tool to force the end of the fabric into the groove at the front of the door panel.

9. Carefully cut out the hole where the grab handle fits.

10. The fabric is folded over the upper and back edges of the plastic door panel. I notched the fabric to fit around the plastic studs. Glue was sprayed on the backside of the panel so that the wrapped fabric would adhere to it when folded over.

11. Put it all back together and enjoy!

Useful tip

You have installed a product made out of genuine leather. As you know, to maintain a leather product in good condition, you should take care of it. We suggest occasionally (every 4-6 week for example) applying some leather conditioner/UV protector to keep your leather from drying up in the sun and cracking.
