1. Remove the shift knob by turning it counter-clockwise. If the boot begins to twist with the knob, grasp the top of the boot to prevent this. 

2. Remove the plastic trim that the boot is attached to by hooking your finger through the boot and under the plastic. Lift gently until the 4 clips pop free (there is one clip in each corner). 

3. Turn the trim over and remove the shift boot by pulling the edges out from under the plastic clips on the bottom of the trim. There is a metal wire ring inside the boot that must clear the clips in order to remove the boot.

4. Cut the threads holding the wire ring inside the old boot and remove the wire from the boot.

5. Place the wire ring inside the shift boot with one seam coming down to each corner. The seam with top stitching that ends about 1” from the top should be at the right rear corner. Fasten the ring to the boot (you can sew it back in or use glue).

6. Turn the old boot inside out and pull the material off of the plastic ring at the top of the material. Remove the ring. Turn the new boot inside out and glue the plastic ring into the new boot. Turn the boot right side out.

7. Re-install the boot to the plastic trim and put the plastic trim piece back in the car. The leather may be thicker than the old boot and you may need to push the top ring down onto the shift lever. This is normal.

8. Congratulations - you are done!
